Hoisting Flags in Dubai

Hoisting flags are raised up a flagpole using a rope and pulley system, the traditional choice for buildings, business entrances and public spaces in Dubai that want a permanent flag display rather than a flag packed away after an event. They suit companies, hotels and government buildings with an existing flagpole already installed.

We make hoisting flags in a knitted or woven polyester chosen for its strength to weight ratio, light enough to fly freely in a light breeze but dense enough to resist tearing when the UAE's stronger summer gusts pick up. The fabric is treated to resist UV breakdown, since a flag that hangs outdoors here gets far more direct sun than in a temperate climate, and we reinforce the heading edge with a canvas strip and brass grommets so it does not tear loose at the attachment points.

Sizes typically run from around 90cm by 150cm for a standard pole up to large formats of 3m by 5m or bigger for tall flagpoles outside hotels, government buildings and corporate headquarters. We size the flag to the pole height you already have, since an oversized flag drags and looks heavy while an undersized one looks lost against the sky, and we produce both custom branded flags and standard national flags for hoisting.

A hoisting flag differs from a building flag in how it is used day to day, a hoisting flag runs up and down a pole on a halyard and needs hardware built for that repeated movement, while a building flag is fixed at a set height and does not move daily.
